Am Rande der Welt 6:29 Total: 40:41 VALOSTA VARJOON beweisen einmal mehr, dass schroffe Black-Metal-Finsternis nicht allein in Skandinavien, sondern auch in den Gefilden des Oberpfälzer Waldes heraufbeschworen werden kann, wo auf imposanten Granitfelsen so manche Burgruine als Sinnbild zugleich historischer Trutzigkeit und melancholischen Zerfalls die Zeiten überdauert hat. Auf »Blut, Stahl und Leid«, dem vierten Langspieler der trinkfesten Bajuwaren V.V. und Sturmwolf, verdichten sich barbarische Raserei und Hymnisches – wie im Titeltrack, der mit wehmütigen Untertönen den stolzen Geist der frühen Neunziger wiederauferstehen lässt – mit dem bandtypisch trotzigen Black’n’Roll zu einem zwingenden Ganzen. Die neuen Kompositionen haben dabei im Vergleich zu den früheren Werken in einer Weise an Schärfe, Kontur und Eingängigkeit gewonnen, dass ohne Zweifel von der bis dato besten Veröffentlichung der Band gesprochen werden kann. VALOSTA VARJOON wurde 2016 in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz als Soloprojekt von V.V. gegründet und entwickelte sich 2018 zu einem Duo, als Sturmwolf hinzukam. In den Anfängen war der Sound fest im klassischen melodischen Black Metal verwurzelt – kalt, melancholisch und traditionsbewusst. Doch mit der Zeit mischte sich etwas anderes darunter … Heute lassen sich VALOSTA VARJOON nicht mehr so einfach in eine Schublade stecken. Black Metal trifft auf dreckigen Rock’n’Roll und Punk-Spirit. Das Ergebnis ist rohe, ungeschliffene und wütende Musik – weniger kalkulierte Komposition, eher wie ein nächtlicher Ausbruch, der durch einen abgenutzten Verstärker in einer verrauchten Bar hallt. Textlich ist die Band weit entfernt von Fantasy-Klischees. Stattdessen lässt sie sich von Mythen und Legenden ihrer Heimatregion um Neumarkt inspirieren und vermischt diese mit Themen wie Melancholie, Menschenfeindlichkeit, Alkohol und dem sogenannten »Grattler«-Dasein – einem bayerischen Ausdruck für ein Leben am Rande der Gesellschaft, irgendwo zwischen hartnäckigem Trotz und bewusster Rauheit. VALOSTA VARJOON ist finnisch für »Aus dem Licht in den Schatten«.
