SCHRAT have made a fantastic name for themselves within the Black Metal underground. The band, active since 2003, can already look back on three albums and is about to release their new album "Seelenfresser". Like its predecessor "Alptraumgänger," the album will be released via Folter Records and thematically lives in the same cosmos as the last albums.

In
"Seelenfresser" (soul eater) the "Schrat" is the main
control part of a three-headed creature bringing the apocalypse over humanity
in a conceptual inverted bible invocation over three sections. Dead people make
the heads grow and activate the power of runes they use to bring more death.
This misanthropic creature symbolizes the unholy trinity working against
humanity.
The difference to the three predecessors - albums "Bestimmung - Raserei", "Schattenwahn" & "Alptraumgänger" is the common thread and the connection of all songs excepting "Baphomet". The "Schrat" is still a mystical anti-human nature spirit and protector of Gaia. The lyrical themes nature, misanthropy, rune magic, pest, suffering and death only have different focuses depending on the respective publications.

Simultaneously, the album contains a progressing journey into the past, which consists of two individual parts. The first part contains new compositions which were recorded in the course of the year 2017 bit by bit. Stylistically the songs stand out by a stronger focus on aggression and sheer brutality, still always featuring the typical schraty flair: melodious, old-school, symphonic, icy-cold! The characteristic songwriting which already slowly developed on “Schattenwahn” and matured on “Artefakt”, rises with “Alptraumgänger” to a new level. The lyrics further amplify the impact of the compositions – Odes to the Schrat as personified revenge and annihilation as well as unleashing of the unconscious mind manifest with the musical eruptions to a nightmarish intensive atmosphere. Since live performance is an essential part of Schrat’s concept, the second part consists of live recordings of selected songs. In combination with explicit traditional sound, those are the reminiscence to past rituals as well as a teaser to upcoming ones.
